Honey Hot Buttered Rum

Nothing warmed you up better after playing or working out in the cold and snow than a steamy hot drink. Especially if it was topped with a delicious dollop of creamy whipped cream. I remember my Mom whipping up many mugfuls of homemade hot cocoa, Russian tea, and hot mocha to thaw us out on those cold winter days.
Would you like to know my new favorite warm-you-up drink? Honey Hot Buttered Rum, made extra easy and extra special for the holidays with Tate+Lyle® Honey Granules. It's a mugful of warm rum-and-honey comfort!
In case you're not familiar with the product, Tate+Lyle® Honey Granules is a blend of sugar and honey that makes it deliciously easy to sweeten up your holiday drinks ... and to add honey flavor to all kinds of dishes.
And the Honey Granules work perfectly for whipping up this Honey Hot Buttered Rum. Simply measure out some Honey Granules and combine them with softened butter, ground ginger, and a touch of ground cinnamon to form a butter batter that will serve as the base of the drink.
Okay, I just have to say ... do you know what I especially love about using Honey Granules? There's no sticky mess in my measuring utensils! Or in my mixing bowls. Or on my spoons or spatulas. Ingredients
- 1/2 c. (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 2/3 c. Tate+Lyle® Honey Granules
- 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
- pinch ground cinnamon
- Place butter, honey granules, ginger, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Mash together with the back of a spoon or a fork until well combined.
- Use immediately to prepare mugs of Honey Hot Buttered Rum, or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
For Each Mug:

- 2 heaping T. Honey Hot Buttered Rum batter {from recipe above}
- 2 oz. dark spiced rum
- 6 oz. boiling water
- whipped cream {optional}
- ground cinnamon for sprinkling {optional}
- Place Honey Hot Buttered Rum batter in a mug. Add rum and boiling water. Stir until butter mixture is melted and honey granules are fully dissolved.
- Top with whipped cream and a sprinkling of ground cinnamon, if desired.
