This hot onion dip recipe is from a friend of mine from church. Every time we have a get-together, it is just expected that she's going to make it. No question. She doesn't even bother to ask anyone any more what she should bring or make for an event ... because everyone just says, "Make that onion stuff!"
She's just known for it ... and we'd all miss it if she didn't bring a big dish full.
After one bite of this "onion stuff," I think you'll know why it's so popular.
Quite simply, this "onion stuff" Hot Onion Souffle Dip is a mixture of cream cheese, Parmesan, a little mayonnaise, and a whole lot of onion mixed together. It's then baked up until it's nice and golden on top and a puffed up a little bit.
As my friend says, Fritos are the best dipper for this onion dip. There's just something extra delicious about the flavor combination of the Fritos corn chips with the warm onion flavor of the dip.
The inside turns into a really soft and creamy pillow of onion-y melted cheese that's loaded with fabulous flavor.
Once it's out of the oven, dive in and enjoy the creamy goodness! As my friend says, Fritos are the best dipper for this onion dip. There's just something extra delicious about the flavor combination of the Fritos corn chips with the warm onion flavor of the dip.
But we also like whole-grain pretzel twists and regular pretzels, too, if you'd prefer.
This onion dip can be made with fresh onions or with the convenience of frozen diced onions. Typically, I make it with fresh onions which takes chopping about 3 medium-sized onions to get the right amount.
If chopping that many onions isn't your thing, diced frozen onions work just fine, too and I've certainly made my fair share of batches of it using frozen onions. Just thaw the frozen onions prior to combining them with the remaining ingredients.
This onion dip can be made with fresh onions or with the convenience of frozen diced onions.
The onion flavor is a bit more pronounced with fresh chopped onion, but the dip is still very good with the frozen.
So, when it comes to quick and easy food, let's all add Hot Onion Souffle Dip to our list of life's simple pleasures, shall we? You'll be glad you did. I promise.
