Got dark meat chicken lovers in your house? Then these Oven Barbecue Chicken Thighs are a great quick and easy dinner recipe to have around.
Truth be told, I am not a big fan of dark meat chicken. I much prefer white meat, all the way. But in my household ... I am seriously outnumbered on that.
Yes, in our home, I am the only one who likes white meat chicken. All other members of the family go for dark meat, and one will ONLY eat dark meat. Which meant for ease of dinner preparation, I needed to find a dark meat I could enjoy.
I love that boneless skinless chicken thighs bake up more quickly than many other cuts of meat. It means a hearty, hot dinner can be on the table just that much faster.
My answer?
Boneless skinless chicken thighs.
I'm glad to have found boneless skinless chicken thighs are a dark meat I can get behind. And why am I okay with them when I'm not a dark meat lover? Because they're boneless and skinless like the boneless skinless breasts I love so much, they generally bake up super tender, and ... most of all ... because they bake quickly!

Slathered in tasty homemade barbecue sauce, these easy Oven Barbecue Chicken Thighs are our family's favorite way to enjoy them. Every time I make them, I get the comment "You need to make these more often." Which is always a nice thing to here at the dinner table, am I right?
So, just how easy is it to make these Barbecue Chicken Thighs? I'm not kidding, like really super easy.
All you do is mix up a simple homemade barbecue sauce from pretty basic pantry ingredients - some ketchup, Worcestershire, a little mustard, brown sugar, salt, and apple cider vinegar. Oh, and a dash of hot sauce for some zip.
Using a Ziploc bag makes it really easy to get all the chicken thighs well coated in sauce, and it's one less bowl to wash!
The apple cider vinegar adds a nice bit of tang to the sauce, and hot sauce gives it a bit of heat. If you or your family aren't into spiciness, just use less hot sauce or leave it out altogether.
Instead of mixing up my sauce in a mixing bowl, I use a gallon-size Ziploc bag. Once I have all the ingredients in I just seal the bag and squish everything all around to get it all combined.

Season the chicken thighs on both sides with salt and pepper, and then add them to the sauce. Get them all well coated in sauce, and allow them to sit for about 10 to 15 minutes to marinate a bit.
Place the chicken thighs in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet, leaving a little space between the chicken pieces so they’re not too crowded this helps them cook better. I use tongs to remove the chicken from the bag so I don't get my hands completely messy, but hands work just fine for this, too.
I also line my baking sheet with aluminum foil to make clean-up a snap. But that's completely optional, of course.
Oh, how I love this Oven Barbecue Chicken Thighs recipe quick, easy, tasty, and a family-pleaser.
Once all the thighs are on the baking sheet, spoon about a tablespoon of the extra sauce on top of each chicken thigh.
Pop the pan in the oven and bake everything for about 35 minutes. That's it! Easy as can be.
