Pretzel Chocolate-Peanut Butter Chip Cookies
Pretzel Chocolate-Peanut Butter Chip Cookies The delicious sweet-salty combination of salt, chocolate, and peanut butter joins forces in a fun and scrumptious cookie form! Believe me, these aren't your average chocolate chip cookies.
In fact? When the craving for salt and chocolate hits, I've been known to just reach into the pantry and grab a handful of pretzels along with a small handful of chocolate chips. It's a mix that will sure suffice when chocolate covered pretzels aren't around.
A little sprinkling of sea salt or fleur de sel on each cookie just puts these Pretzel Chocolate-Peanut Butter Chip Cookies over the top.
And then when you add peanut butter into that mix? An already-divine combination gets even better!
So hey, it only makes sense to pack all the fabulous tastes of this flavor combination into a cookie, right?
Oh yes ... and, hence, these pretzel-stuffed cookies loaded with both chocolate & peanut butter chips were born.
And a little sprinkling of sea salt or fleur de sel on each cookie just puts these Pretzel Chocolate-Peanut Butter Chip Cookies over the top.
To start these new-favorite cookies, I whipped up the classic Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie dough as my base batter.
I find the Tollhouse dough to be such a wonderfully versatile cookie dough base for so many cookie variations, and use it all the time ... like in my Coffee Chocolate Chip Cookies, Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies, and my all-time favorite Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies.
But if you have a favorite cookie base, go ahead and give it a try. It'll probably work just great for these cookies, too!
You want the pretzels to be in bite-sized pieces ... not too big, but definitely not crushed into a powder, either. I found placing pretzels in a zip-top baggie and hitting them gently with a meat mallet worked great.
Then toss the pretzel pieces into the cookie batter along with some chocolate chips and peanut butter chips.
It's total yum! I could stop right now and just eat the batter ... Really, I could. (And I might have. Just a little bit. Maybe.)

Drop the dough by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. Then sprinkle the top of each dough ball with a little pinch of sea salt or fleur de sel. Oh my!
Fleur de sel is simply a specific type of sea salt. It's got a very delicate salty flavor I love.
Either type of salt works, but I do generally use fleur de sel when sprinkling salt on my baked goods. Fleur de sel is simply a specific type of sea salt gathered from an island in France. It's got a very delicate salty flavor I love.
Pop the cookies in the oven and bake them up. The Tollhouse cookie base worked just beautifully for these.
The cookies spread out the perfect amount, and stayed nice and soft - just the way I like them.
So if you love the classic sweet-salty flavor combination like me, give these tasty Pretzel Chocolate-Peanut Butter Chip Cookies a try.
The addition of peanut butter along with salt and chocolate simply puts these cookies over the top! Believe me, they're sure not your average chocolate chip cookies.
