sausage and cheese drop biscuits
Oh man, is there anything better than a warm biscuit for breakfast? I've expressed my love of biscuits before here and here, but these sausage and cheese drop biscuits are such a fun twist on biscuits for breakfast! They're moist and tender, and full of flavor. They also freeze really well, so they're easy to pop in the microwave for a quick breakfast on a busy day. My little girls love turkey sausage, and Geoff is as obsessed with biscuits as I am, so these were a big hit in our family. I hope you'll enjoy them as much as we do!
Sausage and Cheese Drop Biscuits
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/3 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
4 ounces cooked crumbled breakfast sausage (I used turkey sausage)
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons melted butter
Preheat the oven to 425. Line a large baking sheet with parchment or a split. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in the butter using a pastry blender or two knives, until the pieces are no bigger than pea sized. Add the cheese and sausage and mix to combine. Stir in the milk until just combined. Drop large spoonfuls of batter (I used an ice cream scoop) onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake 13-15 minutes, or until lightly browned. Brush with melted butter and serve.
