Green Detox Smoothie
I’m alive, I’m alive!
I know you guys were super worried — OK, maybe not “super worried”, let’s go with concerned? Puzzled? Curious? You have to give me curious at least.
Anyways, I’m here in one piece, still alive, typing on the keyboard, with my cup of green tea.
Life seems to be going back to normal, finally.
So what happened?
Well, nothing that exciting.
In a nutshell, when I got back from the holidays on January 4th I got the flu. Just like that.
I’m not complaining, it’s flu season, people get the flu.
However, I didn’t get the flu, I got the super flu, the terminator of flu.
It went down like this.
First day “Uh oh. Why do I have a runny nose? And what about this scratchy throat? And that cough? Maybe it’s just a cold”
Second day “This is definitely not a cold. I feel like I’ve been hit by three trucks in a row. I’m dying. I want my mom!”
Third day to fifth day — pinned to bed “If this sore throat, cough, and fever last any longer I’m going to hang myself!”
Sixth day, the doctor prescribes a course of antibiotics “Goodbye cruel world!”
Seventh day “Wait a minute. What’s this? It can’t be. I’m doing it. I’m overcoming the flu, the worst disease ever known in human mankind. I’m aliveeee!”
I know I’m exaggerating, but there’s this feeling of accomplishment when you survive the flu.
Am I wrong?
Today, (i.e., on the eighth day of the flu) I can say that: "It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me. And I’m feeling fine!”
It’s also a new year, and with every new year comes a new chance to throw away the empty wine bottles and embrace a brand-new set of New Year’s resolutions.
This involves signing up for a new gym membership (or dusting off an old one), resolving not to drink so much, and stop eating “all that food that's bad for me”.
One of the things I recommend doing when trying to be healthy is to start your day off with a nutritious meal.
If you’re looking to change up your morning routine and make it just a bit more healthy, a green detox smoothie might give you the boost you're looking for.
Quick to make, healthy, tastes better than a milkshake and, best of all, portable.
Perfect for a green smoothie beginner or for anyone looking to add some more green into their diet.
It contains all the vitamins and minerals to get your day started in the most healthy way.
I just had it, and I’m already feeling better, so get your blender out: it’s time to get healthy!

1 cup organic spinach or kale
1 banana, previously peeled, sliced and frozen
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 cup fruit juice (I used pomegranate and freshly squeezed orange)

Combine all the ingredients in a blender, making sure that the spinach sits at the bottom (this will facilitate the blending process). Blend until smooth and creamy.
If it’s too thick, add some water (two tablespoons should be plenty).
