Homemade Boursin Cheese Spread
Easy-to-make savory Boursin cheese spread is beautifully flecked with herbs and black pepper. It's so simple to make your own at home!
I grew up eating Boursin cheese spread, and loved it. It's one of those foods that holds very fond memories for me.
Mom and I had a favorite little herb farm lady who would frequent local craft shows to sell her packets of herb blends. AndMom and I would look forward to seeing her at our town's huge pre-Christmas craft show each year.
Each year, we'd seek out her booth at the craft fair so we could stock up on several packets of her Boursin blend. As soon as we'd get home, we'd mix the herbs with some cream cheese and butter, and enjoy slathering its delicious peppery herby-ness on crackers for a snack.

And now - now I know how to create my own herb mix to make delicious, creamy homemade Boursin cheese spread.
But it's not true Boursin, mind you. That's why we actually should refer to it as Boursin-style spread. Did you know to truly be called Boursin, a cheese has to be a specific variety of cow's milk cheese whose making originated in France?
Yes. Much like champagne can only be called "champagne" if it's made in the French methode de champagne (all others are called "sparkling wine"), Boursin is only Boursin if it's ... well ... truly Boursin.
But this homemade simple version of Boursin cheese spread is certainly a fabulous fake!
And all you need to do to whip up this faux Boursin is to mix salted butter and cream cheese together with a a combination of several dried herbs and a good heap of ground black pepper.
The specific combination of dried herbs and a hefty dose of black pepper give this spread its characteristic Boursin flavor. Preferably, use course grind black pepper to give the spread the best flavor and to create the sort of speckled look typical of Boursin.

After letting the flavors become friendly with one another, you get a smooth and creamy herby spread that's beautifully flecked with the herbs and pepper. and loaded with fabulous flavor. Allow those flavors to meld for at least several hours.
Then serve up a dish full of Boursin cheese spread with crackers or baguette slices for an easy and elegant savory hors d'oevre.
With how it's fabulous flavor and how easy it is to make, this homemade Boursin Cheese Spread is a perfect for any party. Or, make a batch to keep in the refrigerator to snack on for yourself. It will keep in the refrigerator just fine for a couple of weeks.
I must say, not too shabby for a fake. No, not too shabby at all.
Thank you for stopping by . We'd love to have you back soon!
