The recipe for this simple strawberry cobbler is from a dear friend of mine.
Last week, she let me borrow her desserts recipe folder. And I, of course, was thrilled to look through it! Because I need another recipe like I need a hole in my head, you know. But recipes are an addiction for me, and I can never have enough of them.
And people's personal folders are the best recipe collections. Because they hold all their favorites. Tried and true.
Well, tucked into the very bottom of a plastic sleeve in my friend's folder, hand-scribbled on a piece of old accountant's paper, with just the ingredients list and a couple of cryptic direction notes, was the recipe for this scrumptious strawberry cobbler.
I had to try it.
Because anything cryptically scribbled down on an old sheet of grab-whatever-you-have-at-hand paper simply has to be good.

And, oh it is.
It may just be my one of my absolute favorite ways to enjoy those fresh spring field-ripened strawberries I love so much.
To get all this scrumptious strawberry cobbler yummy-ness, simply thickly slice some fresh strawberries into a baking dish, and toss them with a bit of granulated sugar.
Next dot the cut strawberries all over with little pieces of softened butter ...
The batter will bake up in irregular shaped bits, with juicy berries poking up all through it. Mmmmmm ... don't those bubbly berries look amazing??
So if you're a strawberry lover like me, go grab yourself some fresh strawberries and dig in to a bowl of scrumptious fresh strawberry cobbler! Believe me, your taste buds will thank you in a huge way.
Just like I thank my dear friend in a huge way for this fabulously simple classic recipe.
Thank you for stopping by . We'd love to have you back soon!

prep time: 15 Mcook time: 1 hourtotal time: 1 H & 15 M
ingredients:
- 1 pint fresh strawberries
- 3 T. granulated sugar
- 2 T. butter, softened
- 1 c. self-rising flour
- 3/4 c. granulated sugar
- 1 c. milk
instructions:
How to cook Scrumptious Strawberry Cobbler
- Clean strawberries and slice into thick slices (for small berries, cut them in half). Place sliced strawberries in a 9x9-inch baking dish coated with non-stick cooking spray. Sprinkle sliced strawberries with the 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar, toss to coat with the sugar, and dot the berries with small pieces of the softened butter.
- In a bowl, mix the self-rising flour, 3/4 cups of granulated sugar, and milk until just combined {seriously, mix until the flour has just barely gotten all wet if you mix it too much, the cobbler will turn out a tad rubbery}. Pour batter over the strawberries.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour until lightly golden browned and the berries are bubbly.
